Students and staff of the AHA! (Attitude, Harmony, Achievement) afterschool Girls’ Relationship Wisdom program gather to talk about the many aspects of building responsibility. AHA! is a Santa Barbara-based afterschool and weekend program that uses positive creative expression and an empowering and joyful curriculum to help young people learn and practice SEL skills.

Highlights from Recent Chats

October 26: Problem Solving: Go inside the production room with young alum from The Possibility Project (TPP), a New York City program that uses performing arts and community action to help teens build relationships across differences, resolve conflicts without violence and lead. TPP’s Paul Griffin moderates.

June 22: Emotion Management: featuring expert practitioners and youth from Aha! (Attitude, Harmony, Achievement). Founded in response to the Columbine High School massacre, AHA! serves teens and families with programs aimed to create a community of adolescents who are committed to compassion, character, positive creative expression and the celebration of diversity.

May 25 Empathy:

Adrian, an expert practitioner, and Rominata, a young person, from the Teen Outreach Program, Wyman, along with Emily, an expert pratitioner, and Kavita, a young person from InIt, YW Boston, shared their thoughts on cultivating empathy in two different afterschool contexts.

April 20: Teamwork: Our inaugural chat, focused on teamwork, featured Poppy Potter (Director of Operations) and Joey (youth participant) from Voyageur Outward Bound School and Emma Bergman (Social & Emotional Learning Coordinator) and Josh (youth participant) from Philadelphia Wooden Boat Factory.
