A brief examines the state of standards focusing on social emotional learning across the United States

A new brief just released by CASEL examines the state of standards focusing on social emotional learning across the United States. As brief authors Linda Dusenbury and Roger Weissberg write, “There is growing momentum across the country to support statewide implementation of social and emotional learning (SEL) in preschool through high school.”

They report that preschool SEL standards are now in place in all 50 states and highlight states that have either completed or are currently developing K-12 standards for SEL. Additionally, they identify several trends in the policy and practice landscape that have accelerated and supported the development of such standards.
